The Mercado Organico is the first organic fair established in Santiago de Chile.
It was created in order to give the population more accessibility to organic and healthy products.
Going back to history, the first fair started in 2008 in the yoga center La Dehesa every saturday offering fresh organic fruits and vegetables to customers. Then, in 2009 the fair moved to a real place, found by La. I. Municipalidad de Vitacura, in the district Los Chacareros. The fair increasingly met with great success insofar as 50 companies took a space to sell their organic products every saturday.
Later on, in 2011, the Mercado Orgánico moved to the Place Perú and opened every wednesday and saturday and in 2012 thanks to the alliance of the MAVI, also opened the Mercado Organico Lastarrias in the Place Mulato Gil.
The Mercado Organico also offers its services for corporate events such as organic breakfasts, educational events about ecology or sustainable development. Besides, it proposes eco-responsible gifts for social purpose.
